In a world where music often entertains, Dr. Anathi Zibeke offers something deeper: healing. A qualified medical doctor and a rising voice in South African gospel, Anathi is walking a unique path — one where stethoscopes and microphones meet. With his latest single Melusi Wam, he’s proving that healing doesn’t only come through medicine, but also through melody.

Anathi’s story behind Melusi Wam is as powerful as the song itself. In 2022, he experienced the devastating loss of his wife. Left to raise his child as a single father, he turned to the scriptures — and to song — to process his grief.

“Melusi Wami (My Shepherd) is a quote from the Bible, Psalms 23. There was a point in my life where I thought I’d reached a dead end, but God spoke to me through this book assuring me that He is my shepherd, I must rely on Him without any doubt. So from that day, I made a vow that I’ll never leave Him as the song says,” says Anathi.

The result of that moment is Melusi Wam — a song that doesn’t just share his pain, but also his healing. It’s gentle yet powerful, simple but deeply moving. And now, it’s offering comfort to many others who are walking through their own

Anathi was born in Mtalala township in Port St Johns, raised in a large family, and found his voice in church. Gospel music became his safe place. He started singing in 2006, became a music director for various groups, and gradually grew into the artist he is today.

“I started singing at church. I then became a music director for many groups. As I grew in music and performed with various artists, until I found my voice when I met Mlungisi Ngobese two years ago who became my executive producer — then and there, there was no turning back.”

After finishing high school, Anathi pursued a medical degree at Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha. Through the stress and sacrifice of his studies, music remained his anchor.

“Music got me through university and every other obstacle I faced,” he says.

What makes Anathi’s story so unique is his understanding of healing from two very different but equally powerful perspectives. In hospitals, he heals the body. Through music, he heals the soul.

His sound isn’t commercial — it’s intentional. Every note and lyric comes from lived experience, anchored in faith and testimony. With Melusi Wam, Anathi isn’t trying to impress. He’s trying to connect — and he’s succeeding.

With Melusi Wam already touching hearts, Anathi is preparing to release his debut album, which promises more heartfelt music grounded in faith, honesty, and healing. It’s a project to watch — not for the charts, but for the impact.

Whether he’s wearing a white coat or holding a mic, Anathi Zibeke is committed to one calling: to bring hope. And if this single is any indication, his voice — and his purpose — are just getting started.
